The Haunting of the Bincombe Tunnel

You’ll find the Bincombe Tunnel cutting through a hillside just to the north of the Dorset town of Weymouth.

The deep railway tunnel is on the main line from Weymouth to Dorchester.

It’s a Victorian built tunnel dating back to the late 1850’s.

Since the 1990’s it’s gained the reputation for being haunted.

Many train drivers have reported seeing and sometimes hitting the ghostly apparition of a man walking along the track within the tunnel.

Many people believe that the ghostly man is the spirit of a commuter who was tragically hit by a train as he walked through the tunnel in 1987 when he thought he’d missed the last train home and decided to take a short cut along the tracks!
