The Haunted Bosworth Hall Hotel

The Park, Market Bosworth CV13 0LP

You’ll find Bosworth Hall Hotel situated near to the small Leicestershire market town of Market Bosworth.

The Grade II* listed former country house dates back to 1293.

It was the family home of the wealthy Dixie family for about three hundred years.

Bosworth Hall has a cruel story attached to it…

The daughter of Sir Wolston Dixie, Ann Dixie, had fallen in love with the gardener’s son.

Sir Wolston wasn’t too happy with the idea of having a gardener’s son as his son-in-law.

He lived up to his reputation of being a cruel man when he laid mantraps in the garden to trap his daughter’s lover.

One day Anne was in the garden looking for her lover when she accidently stepped on one of the mantraps.

She managed to free herself from the trap but later died due to the loss of blood.

Today, many witnesses have been scared witless after seeing a ghostly apparition of a young lady in period dress walking around the hall’s grounds.

Many say the apparition is the ghost of Ann Dixie who’s still looking for her lover!

FEATURED HAUNTED HOTEL: The Black Boy Inn, Caernarfon

To the rear of the Black Boy there was once a convent which probably accounts for the many sightings of a ghostly nun seen walking through the building.

Many guests have heard the sound of a phantom child crying in one of the inn’s bedrooms.

Apparently, if you ask whether the child is OK it stops crying!

Members of staff and punters alike have reported seeing a ghostly figure of a man sitting in the bar area of the pub just watching people.

And a senior member of staff was certain they saw a ghostly apparition of a woman in the bar area when they were working late one night.
