The Haunted Broadford Hotel

Torrin Road, Broadford IV49 9AB

You’ll find the Broadford Hotel along Torrin Road in the centre of the village of Broadford on the Isle of Skye.

Dating back to 1611, the hotel is one of the oldest continuously operated in Scotland.

In the 19th century, the owner of the hotel acquired a liqueur formula, patented it and developed it into the world famous Drambuie.

Local legend says that a doctor holidaying at the hotel once witnessed a strange glowing apparition come out of the sea as he was walking along the shoreline.

The glowing apparition turned into the ghostly figure of a cloaked woman carrying a young child.

The apparition passed him on the beach and then disappeared into thin air!

Apparently, there was once a shipwreck at that spot and the bodies of a woman and her young child were washed up on the beach were the doctor had seen the ghostly figures.

Poltergeist activity has been reported at the hotel.

It’s reputed to be haunted by the ghost of a former housekeeper.
