You’ll find Comlongon Castle Hotel in the countryside to the west of the small village of Clarencefield in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
The Grade A listed 15th century Comlongon Castle is actually a five storey tower house.
Local legend says the castle is haunted…
Comlongon Castle Hotel is said to be haunted by a ghostly lady who’s been seen wandering the castle in tears.
The ghostly lady is said to be the spirit of Lady Marion Carruthers.
She lived at the castle during the 16th century but tragically committed suicide on the 25th September 1570 by throwing herself off the top of the Lookout Tower.
It’s said that she haunts the castle because she wasn’t given a proper Christian burial due to her death being a suicide.
