The Haunted Crown Hotel
16 High Street, Amersham HP7 0DH
In the centre of Amersham on the High Street opposite the Market Hall is the historic Crown Hotel.
The Grade II listed Crown dates back to the 16th century when it started life out as a coaching inn.
With centuries of history you probably won’t be too surprised to discover that the Crown has a reputation for being haunted…
On many occasions members of staff at the hotel have witnessed a ghostly figure standing next to one of the old beams in the bar area.
Another ghost witnessed by both members of staff and guests alike in Room 16 is that of a former maid.
She’s described as wearing an old fashioned Victorian grey uniform.
Apparently, some guests have actually reported that she packed their suitcases for them.
And some young men have been scared witless when she tried to tuck them up in bed!
If you want to be tucked up in bed or have your suitcases pack for you, she tends to make an appearance around the Easter holidays.
