The Haunted Crown Hotel

You’ll find the Crown Hotel situated along the High Street in the South Yorkshire market town of Bawtry.
The Grade II listed hotel dates back to the 18th century.
The Crown Hotel is said to be haunted by many ghosts.
The old stables are said to be haunted by the ghost of a monk who died in them many years ago.
Witnesses describe his ghostly apparition as being elderly and wearing a belted habit.
The ghost of a waitress has been seen wandering the hotel’s dining rooms.
It’s said that she once worked at the hotel about a hundred years ago.
And that she was murdered by her jealous lover who was the chef at the hotel after he discovered she was cheating on him!
Witnesses describe her apparition as wearing an old fashioned waitress uniform.
In 2004 the manager of the Crown called in a paranormal investigation group to check out the hotel.
They reported seeing a ghostly woman walking along the upper corridor of the hotel and a ghost of a young child sitting in the corner of the restaurant.
The ghostly apparition of a lady wearing a crinoline dress has been seen in the reception area in the old wing of the hotel.
It’s believed that she’s a ghost of a woman who tragically died in a fire at the hotel many years ago.
One guest reported that she was woken up in the middle of the night by the ghost of a little girl sitting on her bed!
And other guests have reported hearing the sound of phantom horse’s hooves on gravel outside the hotel.
