The Haunted Crown Hotel
West Street, Blandford Forum DT11 7AJ
Along West Street in the Georgian market town of Blandford Forum you’ll find the Crown Hotel.
There’s been an inn on the site of the Crown Hotel since the 15th century but today’s building is a Georgian coaching inn.
The hotel is said to be haunted by a couple of ghosts…
Terrified witnesses have seen a ghostly apparition of a highwayman in the bar area, restaurant and courtyard.
He’s described as wearing a tricorne hat and cloak.
In the 18th century, a highwayman was actually shot dead in the courtyard whilst trying to rob the hotel!
Another ghost seen wandering around the hotel’s first floor is that of a lady wearing a black crinoline dress.
A maid was spooked one day when she saw a lady in black entering a room she shouldn’t…
Upon investigating the room she found it totally empty!Click Here to Stay in the Crown Hotel
FEATURED HAUNTED HOTEL: The Black Boy Inn, Caernarfon
To the rear of the Black Boy there was once a convent which probably accounts for the many sightings of a ghostly nun seen walking through the building.
Many guests have heard the sound of a phantom child crying in one of the inn’s bedrooms.
Apparently, if you ask whether the child is OK it stops crying!
Members of staff and punters alike have reported seeing a ghostly figure of a man sitting in the bar area of the pub just watching people.
And a senior member of staff was certain they saw a ghostly apparition of a woman in the bar area when they were working late one night.
