The Haunting of the Crown Hotel
You’ll find the Crown Hotel located along Market Street in the Dorset town of Poole.
The Grade II listed building dates back to 1697 and is said to be the most haunted pub in Poole.
In the 1960’s, three friends heard a single note being played constantly on the piano in the hayloft.
When they investigated, they discovered that the piano lid was down but as they entered the room all the items which were on the piano flew off onto the floor.
Terrified, they fled the room but when they looked back they saw a mist follow them down the stairs across the courtyard and then enter the hotel!
Other paranormal activity which has been reported to have taken place within the pub include tools being mysteriously moved, doors rattling and opening and closing on their own accord, lights flickering and turning themselves on and off, the sound of something heavy being dragged across the floor, the sound of phantom horses and a wagon in the courtyard, balls of blue light, sudden drops in temperature and the sound of phantom children screaming in the courtyard.
On one occasion, a guest was left visibly shaken after talking to an old man in the toilets who then suddenly vanished into thin air right in front of his eyes!
