The Haunting of the Golden Lion

You’ll find the Golden Lion pub situated on St Edmunds Street in the Dorset seaside town of Weymouth.

The Grade II listed former coaching inn dates back to the 18th century when it replace a former 17th century inn.

Like a lot of old coaching inns up and down the country, the Golden Lion is reputed to be haunted.

It’s said to be haunted by three ghosts, an old man and two ladies.

The old man is believed to be the ghost of a local fisherman.

His apparition has been seen sitting at the end of the bar.

The ladies have been seen in the upper rooms and playing cards at a table in the corner of the main bar.

Witnesses have also reported hearing faint laughter and eerie whispering in the empty courtyard at the rear of the building!
