Pengethley Manor Hotel, Ross on Wye
Pengethley Manor near Ross on Wye dates back to 1583 when it was owned by John Powell.
But in the 1816 the house was tragically burnt down.
It was then rebuilt to the house you see today by the then owner Thomas Symonds.
It remained the family home for the Symonds until 1948 when it was bought and converted into a hotel by Gwynne and Blanch Nicholas.
Today, the hotel is owned and run by Dr Hagmann.
The manor has a reputation for being haunted by a couple of ghosts.
The first is of a young girl called Harriet.
During the tragic fire of 1816, little Harriet was living at the manor and she got trapped in the fire and sadly died.
She now said to haunt the hotel, many members of staff and guests alike have reported ghostly tricks being played on them.
Many believe that it’s Harriet who’s playing these tricks!
The other ghost often seen by terrified witnesses at the manor is that of an old lady in a black dress…
She’s often seen walking near the burnt ruins of the hotel and also in the reception and sitting in the corner of the library!Click Here to Stay in the Pengethley Manor Hotel
