The Haunting of the Kings Arms Hotel
You’ll find the Kings Arms Hotel situated along High East Street in the centre of the Dorset town of Dorchester.
The Grade II* listed building dates back to 1720 when it started life out as a coaching inn.
Over the years the hotel has been accommodation to royalty.
It’s also reputed to be haunted.
On one occasion a businesswoman who was staying in one of the rooms which have a four poster bed in it, reported somebody unseen enter her room when she was in the bath and make loud banging noises in the bedroom.
She also reported a smell of roses, a sudden temperature drop and the TV turned itself on.
When the lady went to bed, she had her bedclothes pulled off and witnessed a mist form in front of her.
To her surprise the mist turned into an apparition of a Victorian lady dressed in grey regal clothing which she instantly recognised as Queen Victoria.
The Queen was staring in surprise at the woman so the businesswoman said ‘hello m’am’ at which point the Queen disappeared into thin air!
