Haunted: Lulworth Castle, East Lulworth, Dorset

| On 28, Nov 2017

The Haunting of Lulworth Castle

You’ll find Lulworth Castle situated in the Dorset village of East Lulworth.

The mock castle dates back to 1609 when it was first built as a hunting lodge for Thomas Howard, 3rd Viscount Howard of Bindon.

Today, the castle is owned by the Weld family and is run as a tourist attraction.

The basement of the castle is said to be haunted by the ghost of a young child who likes to play hide and seek.

Witnesses who’ve seen her have described her as wearing clothing from the Victorian period.

The first floor landing and staircase are also said to be haunted with visitors and members of staff alike reporting an oppressive feeling there as well as hearing phantom footsteps on the staircase.

One visitor even reported that he was pushed to the floor by an unseen force when he was in the first floor landing area!
