The Haunted New Lanark Mill Hotel

1, New Lanark Mills, New Lanark Mill, Lanark ML11 9DB

You’ll find the New Lanark Mill Hotel off the New Lanark Road on the banks of the River Clyde in the UNESCO World Heritage Site village of New Lanark.

The New Lanark Mill Hotel is situated in a former 18th century cotton mill.

The mill was founded in 1786 by David Dale.

It remained in operation up until 1968 and then was left to fall into disrepair.

The mill was transformed into a hotel and opened for business in 1998.

Recently, the New Lanark Mill Hotel has gained a reputation for being haunted…

In May 2010, members of staff believed the hotel’s CCTV system caught footage of a ghost in the hotel’s rear car park.

A lot of people actually believe the blurred object capture on the CCTV footage is in fact just drops of water on the camera lens.

But don’t right off the New Lanark Mill Hotel just yet…

It seems like the self-catering Waterhouses may be haunted!

This is an excerpt from a Tripadvisor review by a family who stay in one of the Waterhouses’ cottages…

“I’m fairly sure the cottage is haunted.

I heard children playing and laughing in the night when there were none, and the sound of furniture being moved across a wood floor when there were carpets.”
