The Haunted Old Crown
188 High Street, Deritend, Birmingham B12 0LD
You’ll find the Grade II* listed Old Crown in the historic Deritend area of Birmingham along its High Street.
The black and white timber framed Old Crown is aptly named as it’s the oldest surviving non-religious building in Birmingham.
It’s said that some parts of the medieval pub actually date back to 1368!
But a lot of the Old Crown you see today is from the 16th century.
The Old Crown is an impressive building and it’s thought that it was first built as Deritend’s Guildhall.
With such a long history you probably won’t be too surprised if I told you that the Old Crown has a reputation for being haunted…
The pub is said to be haunted by two ghosts.
The area around the old well seems to be a hot spot for paranormal activity.
Terrified witnesses saw a ghostly apparition of a lady in an old fashioned dress walk into the bar and disappear into thin air!
Members of staff have reported seeing a ghostly figure they described as being Victorian looking in the pub’s cellar.
Shadowy figures are often seen walking around the pub and disappearing through a wall where a doorway once existed.
Bottles have mysteriously jumped off the shelves in the bar on their own accord.
And punters are often reporting being tapped on the shoulder only to find nobody there when they turn around!
On night, a spooked couple staying in one of the Old Crown’s bedrooms reported seeing a strange white mist manifest in their room right in front of them.Click Here to Stay in the Old Crown
