The Haunted Old White Lion Hotel
6-10 West Lane, Haworth, Keighley BD22 8DU
You’ll find the Old White Lion Hotel along West Lane in the village of Haworth.
The hotel dates back to the 18th century.
In 1906 the village was holding an annual gala.
The main attraction was a famous aeronaut called Lily Cove.
Her act was going to be a death-defying parachute jump from a balloon.
Lily was staying in Room 7 at the Old White Lion Hotel whilst she was performing at Haworth.
On the day of the jump, Lily for some reason detached herself from her parachute.
She plummeted to the ground and died instantly!
Her body was carried back to her room at the hotel where it remained until a coffin could be made for her.
Room 7 is now said to be haunted by the her ghost.
Spooked guests have reported seeing her ghostly apparition standing at the bottom of their bed!
