The Haunted Petwood Hotel
Stixwould Road, Woodhall Spa LN10 6QG
You’ll find the Petwood Hotel situated off the Stixwould Road on the outskirts of the village of Woodhall Spa.
The Grade II listed Tudor style building dates back to 1905 when it was first built as a home by the architect Frank Peck for the wealthy heiress Baroness Grace van Eckhardstein.
The house later became a hotel in 1933.
During the Second World War the hotel was requisitioned for the RAF.
In 1942 it became the home of the legendary RAF 617 ‘Dambusters’ Squadron.
The Squadron Bar at the hotel hosts a range of memorabilia and tributes to the heroic Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC, Group Captain Leonard Cheshire VC and their Officers.
During their active service the brave young men of 617 Squadron would enjoy drinking in the bar room.
And it’s now said that their ghosts can still be heard enjoying themselves in the bar room to this very day!Click Here to Stay in the Petwood Hotel
