The Haunted Salford Hall Hotel

Abbot’s Salford, Stratford-upon-Avon WR11 8UT

In the village of Abbots Salford you’ll find the stunning Salford Hall Hotel.

The Grade I listed Salford Hall dates back to 1470 when it started life out as a guest residence for the monks of the nearby Evesham Abbey.

During the reign of Charles I it became the family home to the Stanfords who remain there until 1812.

Local ghost hunters love this place as paranormal activity is said to be rife throughout the building…

You probably won’t be too surprised if I told you that most of the ghosts at Salford Hall are religious in nature.

The most common ghostly apparition seen at the hall by terrified witnesses is that of a ghostly nun.

She’s often seen on the lower floor of the hotel by both members of staff and guests alike.

It’s believed that she’s the spirit of a nun who was brutally murdered at the hall in the 17th century!

Keeping to the religious theme…

The ghostly apparitions of two monks have been seen walking through the hotel and two phantom priests have been witnessed in the hotel’s courtyard.

The apparition of a stable boy has also been witnessed at the hotel.

Apparently, you know when he’s around because he leaves a rather bad smelling odour in the air!

Finally, the reception of the hotel is said to be haunted by the spirits of some young girls as their often heard giggling.
