South Street, Midhurst GU29 9NH
You’ll find the Spread Eagle Hotel along South Street in the West Sussex market town of Midhurst.
The timber-framed part of this Grade II listed building dates back to 1430 whilst the south part was a former 18th century house and the West Street part were once two 19th century brick cottages.
Spooked witnesses have reported seeing a ghostly apparition of a golden lady in the Lounge Bar.
They describe her as wearing a dress from the Tudor period!
In 1980 one of the hotel’s maids was scared witless whilst she was cleaning one of the hotel’s bedrooms.
A ghostly apparition of an old-fashioned looking coachman appeared in front of her and then very quickly disappeared back into thin air!Click Here to Stay in the Spread Eagle Hotel
