The Haunted Suffolk Hotel
There’s an old building on Buttermarket that was once the Suffolk Hotel.
Well, it’s said that the hotel was haunted by a number of ghosts including a monk and a Grey Lady…
Members of staff at the hotel were convinced that Room 63 was haunted by a woman doctor who once sadly committed suicide in the room.
Dramatic drops in temperature, the smell of perfume and strange phantom noises coming from the wardrobe were often reported in the room by guests and members of staff alike!
On one occasion the night porter witnessed two grey ghostly apparitions climb the hotel’s stairs only to disappear into thin air when they reached the top.
In 1995, the night porter’s wife was terrified when she witnessed an apparition of a grey lady glide across the hotel’s kitchen and disappearing straight through a closed door!
