The Haunted Tunbridge Wells Hotel
58 The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells TN2 5TD
The Tunbridge Wells Hotel situated in the Pantiles was once known as the Swan Hotel.
In its time the Swan Hotel had a reputation for being haunted.
Before it was transformed into a hotel it was called High House.
It was during this period that legend says a young broken hearted woman leaped to her death from a window after being refused to see her lover.
Room 16 at the hotel is said to be haunted.
Spooked guests and members of staff alike have reported hearing an eerie tapping noise at the window.
An unseen entity has also been blamed for mysteriously moving bedroom furniture and for throwing the bed sheets around the room!
Back in 1997 a ghostly woman in grey was seen by terrified witnesses wandering the hotel.
FEATURED HAUNTED HOTEL: The Black Boy Inn, Caernarfon
To the rear of the Black Boy there was once a convent which probably accounts for the many sightings of a ghostly nun seen walking through the building.
Many guests have heard the sound of a phantom child crying in one of the inn’s bedrooms.
Apparently, if you ask whether the child is OK it stops crying!
Members of staff and punters alike have reported seeing a ghostly figure of a man sitting in the bar area of the pub just watching people.
And a senior member of staff was certain they saw a ghostly apparition of a woman in the bar area when they were working late one night.
